The Service allows users to:

  • create and manage recipes;
  • import recipes from external sources;
  • organize recipes;
  • save favorite recipes;
  • rate recipes where supported;
  • create and participate in households;
  • share recipes with household members;
  • manage pantry items within a household;
  • create shared household meal plans and calendar entries;
  • invite other users to a household.

CookCircle is an organizational tool and does not provide professional nutritional, medical, dietary, allergy, or food safety advice.

CookCircle is currently under development. Features may be changed, added, restricted, or removed over time.

2. Account Registration

Certain features of CookCircle require an account.

When creating an account, you agree that:

  • the information you provide is accurate;
  • your email address is valid and accessible to you;
  • you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account;
  • you are responsible for activity performed through your account;
  • you will not share your account credentials with another person;
  • you will notify CookCircle if you believe your account has been compromised.

You must not impersonate another person or create an account for fraudulent purposes.

CookCircle may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that are involved in misuse of the Service.

3. User Content

Users may create, import, store, edit, and organize content through CookCircle.

This may include:

  • recipes;
  • ingredients;
  • cooking instructions;
  • recipe descriptions;
  • tags;
  • images;
  • pantry information;
  • meal plans;
  • calendar entries;
  • ratings;
  • other information entered into the Service.

This content is referred to as “User Content”.

You retain ownership of the User Content that you create, subject to any rights belonging to third parties.

CookCircle does not acquire ownership of your User Content merely because you store it in the Service.

You grant CookCircle a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, process, reproduce, transmit, and display your User Content only as necessary to provide, operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.

This includes providing the sharing functionality that you choose to use within a household.

This license does not transfer ownership of your User Content to CookCircle.

4. Private Recipes

Recipes that are not shared with a household are intended to remain accessible only to the user who created or imported them.

CookCircle will not intentionally make private recipes available to other CookCircle users through the household-sharing functionality.

However, no online service can guarantee that information will never be accessed as a result of a security incident, technical failure, or unauthorized access.

5. Household Sharing

CookCircle allows users to create and participate in households.

A household allows members to share selected information with one another.

This may include:

  • recipes;
  • pantry items;
  • meal plans;
  • calendar entries;
  • other information specifically intended to be shared within the household.

The creator of a household acts as the household owner.

The household owner may:

  • invite members;
  • remove members;
  • manage household membership.

Information shared within a household may be visible to all current members of that household.

CookCircle is not responsible for disputes between household members regarding information shared within the household.

Users should only share information with household members that they are comfortable making available to those members.

6. Household Invitation Links

CookCircle allows household owners to generate invitation links.

Invitation links are temporary and expire after seven (7) days unless otherwise specified by the Service.

Anyone who obtains a valid invitation link during its active period may potentially join the associated household.

Household owners are responsible for sharing invitation links only with people they trust.

CookCircle may introduce additional security measures, limitations, or expiration periods for invitation links.

CookCircle is not responsible for unauthorized household membership resulting from a user sharing an invitation link with an unintended recipient.

7. Pantry Information

CookCircle allows household members to maintain a shared pantry.

Pantry information may include food items, quantities, units, and related information entered by household members.

Pantry information is intended to be shared only with members of the relevant household.

Pantry information is not made publicly available through CookCircle.

8. Shared Meal Planning

CookCircle may provide a shared household calendar and meal-planning functionality.

Information entered into the shared household calendar may be visible to members of the relevant household.

Users are responsible for the information they enter into shared household calendars and meal plans.

CookCircle does not provide guarantees regarding the accuracy or suitability of meal plans or recipes.

9. Imported Recipes

CookCircle may allow users to import recipes or recipe information from external sources.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to use and store imported content.

CookCircle does not claim ownership of third-party content imported by users.

You acknowledge that imported recipes may be subject to copyright or other rights belonging to third parties.

CookCircle does not generally verify whether a user has permission to import particular content.

You must not use CookCircle to store or distribute content in a way that infringes the rights of another person or organization.

If you believe that content stored on CookCircle infringes your rights, please contact CookCircle using the contact information provided in these Terms.

10. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use CookCircle for unlawful purposes;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service;
  • attempt to access another user’s account;
  • bypass security or access controls;
  • interfere with the operation or security of CookCircle;
  • upload malicious software;
  • impersonate another person;
  • abuse, harass, threaten, or target other users;
  • use CookCircle to infringe the rights of another person;
  • misuse household invitation links;
  • use automated methods to place unreasonable load on the Service;
  • attempt to reverse engineer or extract source code from the Service.

CookCircle may restrict access to the Service or remove content where reasonably necessary to protect CookCircle, its users, or third parties.

Acceptable Use — Video Import You may only submit video URLs that you have the right to use for this purpose. You agree not to use the video import feature to download or process content in violation of the source platform’s own terms of service, or content to which you do not hold sufficient rights. We reserve the right to disable this feature for your account, or entirely, at any time without notice.

11. Intellectual Property

The CookCircle platform, including its software, design, branding, logos, interfaces, and original materials, is owned by or licensed to CookCircle.

You may not:

  • copy or reproduce the Service;
  • reverse engineer the software;
  • attempt to extract source code;
  • reproduce CookCircle branding without permission;
  • systematically reproduce substantial portions of the Service.

These Terms do not grant you ownership rights in the CookCircle platform.

User Content remains subject to Section 3.

12. Service Availability

CookCircle is currently provided as a free, independent project.

CookCircle aims to provide a reliable service but does not guarantee that the Service will always be:

  • available;
  • uninterrupted;
  • error-free;
  • secure;
  • compatible with every device or software environment.

The Service may become temporarily unavailable because of:

  • maintenance;
  • updates;
  • technical problems;
  • hosting failures;
  • network problems;
  • third-party service failures;
  • security incidents;
  • circumstances outside CookCircle’s reasonable control.

CookCircle may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time.

CookCircle may also permanently discontinue the Service.

Where reasonably possible, CookCircle will attempt to provide advance notice of significant changes or permanent discontinuation.

13. Data Storage and Security

CookCircle takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information.

However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

You acknowledge that:

  • transmission of information over the internet carries risks;
  • you are responsible for protecting your account credentials;
  • CookCircle cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or data loss will never occur.

Information about personal data processing is described in the CookCircle Privacy Policy.

14. Account Deletion

You may delete your CookCircle account using the account deletion functionality provided by the Service.

Deleting your account is intended to remove your account and associated User Content from the active Service, subject to applicable legal or technical retention requirements.

This may include:

  • recipes;
  • favorites;
  • ratings;
  • pantry information;
  • household membership;
  • calendar entries;
  • meal plans;
  • other information associated with your account.

Because some information may be shared with other household members, deletion may affect information available to the household.

Some information may remain temporarily in backups or technical systems until those systems are overwritten.

Certain information may also be retained where necessary to comply with legal obligations or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Once an account has been deleted, it may not be possible to recover it or its associated content.

CookCircle may update these Terms from time to time.

Changes may be necessary because of:

  • changes to the Service;
  • new functionality;
  • security requirements;
  • changes in applicable law;
  • changes in how CookCircle operates.

The updated Terms will include a new effective date.

Where appropriate, CookCircle may notify users of significant changes through the Service or by other reasonable means.
